AltaLink, Alberta’s largest electricity transmission company, had a big challenge this spring with Alberta’s volatile weather. Severe weather damaged transmission lines throughout central and southern Alberta, temporarily disrupting power to Albertans.
AltaLink’s Southwest 240 kV Project is the first step in providing Albertans access to a clean, renewable source of electricity. AltaLink is committed to ensuring its construction activities do not affect the surrounding environment. As part of this commitment, construction activities in sensitive bird nesting areas will be suspended starting Saturday, May 15.
Learn about how AltaLink is focused on ensuring the reliability of our transmission system and finding innovative ways to operate our business sustainably for our customers.

Monday, May 3, 2010, marks Alberta's first Power Line Safety Day. Alberta's Joint Utility Safety Team (JUST) is declaring the first Power Line Safety Day to highlight the importance of being vigilant about power line safety around the clock.
Every day, three Albertans risk their lives needlessly by contacting a power line because they didn't ask themselves "Where's the line?"
