Summary

In support of our growth strategy, AltaLink’s Integrated Projects Group is currently looking for a Project Manager who will be responsible for the delivery coordination of capital projects. The primary focus will be to manage the design, cost, quality, schedule, and safety for multiple substation and transmission projects. This role will involve the project management of both externally-driven projects assigned to AltaLink by the AESO and internally-driven Capital Upgrade & Replacement projects.

The position is a full-time position based out of the Calgary office, and will report to the Manager, Integrated Substation Projects within the Projects Department.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to effectively setup and manage multiple projects ranging up to $5 Million dollars each from inception to completion with a total annual spend of $10 to 15 Million dollars.
  • Manage overall cost, quality, schedule, and safety to meet the project objectives.
  • Provide assistance in the siting and regulatory approval processes.
  • Act as a key contact with the client throughout project execution reporting progress in a timely and efficient manner and obtaining approval for all scope and schedule changes.
  • Manage a number of consultants and contractors throughout project execution.
  • Manage and coordinate multiple customers and changing priorities.
  • Effectively and accurately report project status, finances, and schedule for senior management.
  • Manage AltaLink's identity with clients and stakeholders affected by Substation Projects.
  • Manage and communicate with consultants and AltaLink project team members on project scope, objectives, accountabilities and commitments.

  • Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer in good standing with APEGGA or other provincial engineering association, electrical strongly preferred; however will consider other disciplines.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience including 3 or more years of proven project management experience or relevant EPC experience required.
  • Engineering experience in the substation or transmission field would be an asset.
  • Project Management Certification would be an asset.
  • Strong facilitator and problem-solver with a high degree of flexibility.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with people internally and externally.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic changing environment.
  • Capable of managing multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong team player.
