AltaLink names Dennis Frehlich Interim President & CEO


CALGARY, ALBERTA (January 18, 2013)

Today AltaLink announced that Dennis Frehlich will assume the role of AltaLink’s interim President & Chief Executive Officer effective January 21, 2013, while Scott Thon will temporarily leave AltaLink on secondment to SNC-Lavalin, AltaLink’s parent company. This interim position is expected to last for six months.

“During the last 10 years, Dennis has provided tremendous leadership for AltaLink and overseen the operation of the transmission system that serves 85% of Albertans,” said David Tuer, Chairman of AltaLink’s Board of Directors. “Under Dennis’ guidance, we are fully confident that AltaLink will continue to provide one of Canada’s most reliable transmission systems while constructing important new projects which will support Albertans for years to come.”

Mr. Frehlich is a professional engineer and has been AltaLink’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since 2002.

“AltaLink remains focused on delivering the safe, reliable and cost-effective transmission that Albertans expect,” said Dennis. “During 2013, we will continue to execute on our vision by delivering value and focusing on our customers who rely on the transmission system each and every day to power their homes, farms and businesses.”

Scott Thon will take on the interim role as Executive Vice President of SNC-Lavalin’s Power Group while the company searches for a permanent replacement for the outgoing Patrick Lamarre.

Dennis Frehlich, P.Eng
Interim President & CEO
AltaLink

As a registered professional engineer, Dennis Frehlich has 25 years of experience in the electric industry focusing on the areas of transmission and distribution. His experience includes power system engineering, asset management, project management and business development. For more than 14 years, Dennis has provided leadership for the operations, maintenance, engineering, and construction of transmission facilities, most recently in his position as AltaLink’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Dennis is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), and an executive member of the Canadian Electricity Association, Transmission Council. Dennis is a longstanding supporter of the United Way, Foster Parents Plan and several other charitable organizations.
