Meet the 2012 Recipients!
Treaty 6 – Stephanie Moosewah
Stephanie Moosewah is pursuing a Bachelor of Management degree with a major in Human Resources and Labour Relations at the University of Lethbridge, and has completed the two-year Management Studies program at Yellowhead Tribal College. She is from the Alexander First Nation. Stephanie hopes to become a career counselor with a focus on working with First Nations.
Treaty 7 – Kathrina Chief Moon-Riley
Kathrina Chief Moon-Riley is currently attending the University of Lethbridge majoring in Neuroscience. She is from the Blood Tribe reserve in southern Alberta. Kathrina plans on continuing her education in medicine and will be applying to various medical schools in the fall. She aspires to be a medical physician and wants to work in her community.
Treaty 8 – Michael Chasse
Michael Chasse is a first-year student at the University of Alberta in the Bachelor of Secondary Education program majoring in Social Studies with a minor in Teaching French as a Second Language. Michael is from the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation. He has volunteered with the Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada and has participated in a youth leadership program with Canada World Youth. After graduation, Michael would like to remain in northern Alberta and hopes to become a teacher.
Métis – Rachael Truckey
Rachael Truckey is a second-year student at the University of Alberta in the Collaborative Baccalaureate Nursing Program, and is a member of the Aboriginal Student Council. She volunteers at the WestView Health Centre and after graduation plans on pursuing a career in the health industry. Rachael is a member of the Métis Nation of Alberta.
