On October 7, 2013 the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) approved this project for construction. Thank you for your participation in this project.
The Windy Flats 138 kV Line Re-configuration is part of an area transmission development called the Southern Alberta Transmission Reinforcement (SATR). This reinforcement includes new transmission lines and upgrades to the electric system in southern Alberta. These projects will connect new wind-generated power to Alberta's electric system and strengthen the transmission system in the area.
The proposed project includes:
- rebuilding one to three kilometres of the existing 603AL transmission line
- rebuilding approximately 1.6 kilometres of existing 725BL transmission line from single to double circuit
- building approximately 100 metres of new single circuit 138 kV transmission line to connect the new 608L transmission line to the proposed Windy Flats Substation
- building approximately 100 metres of new single circuit 138 kV transmission line to connect the existing 603AL transmission line to the proposed Windy Flats Substation
- adding new 138 kV equipment to the proposed Windy Flats Substation
