113L Transmission Line Rebuild

AltaLink’s existing 113L transmission line was constructed in 1953. We are proposing to rebuild portions of this line to ensure that a safe and reliable supply of power is available for years to come. We do not anticipate any disruption of power to residents while the transmission line is being rebuilt.

  • We are proposing to rebuild approximately 23 kilometres of the overhead portion of 113L line that runs from the Spray Substation through the Town of Canmore, the Municipal District of Bighorn, the Kananaskis Improvement District, and the Bow Valley Provincial Park to the Kananaskis River

AltaLink will be completing work on the 113L Transmission Line rebuild near Heart Creek Provincial Recreation Area beginning on Monday, November 29. As a result, Heart Creek Trail will be temporarily closed between the Heart Creek Trailhead and TransCanada Trail for approximately two weeks. We anticipate that the trail will be reopened by Friday, December 10.

A portion of the Heart Creek Provincial Recreation Area parking lot will also be closed during this time. Heart Creek Provincial Recreation Area is located approximately 500 metres southwest of Lac des Arcs.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we work to ensure the safety and reliability of the electric system in the area.
