Staying safe in wildfire season

With wildfires becoming more frequent and intense throughout Alberta, protecting your community while providing safe, reliable power, is our highest priority. Here's what we're doing, and what you can do to stay prepared.

Wildfire season starts in Alberta on March 1 and it runs until October 31

  • About 52,000 hectares burned so far in 2021
  • There were 704 wildfires in 2020 and more than 3,200 hectares burned
  • 2019 was one of the worst years in Alberta’s history for wildfires, with a staggering 880,000 hectares burned
