AltaLink wins United Way award for fundraising impact and employee volunteerism 

AltaLink was honoured at the United Way of Calgary and Area’s Community Impact Awards, winning the Quantum Leap Award (over 250 employees) and being recognized with the Spirit of Volunteerism Award for its 2025 Powerful Giving Campaign. 

The Quantum Leap Award recognizes organizations with more than 250 employees that have achieved significant growth in their fundraising campaigns, including increases in both total funds raised and donor participation. The Spirit of Volunteerism Award celebrates organizations that demonstrate exceptional creativity, passion, and employee engagement in support of their United Way campaign. 

“Our Powerful Giving campaign brings our people together around a shared purpose to support the communities where we live and work,” said Candice Perry, Manager, Lifecycle Maintenance Engineering and 2025 Powerful Giving campaign co-chair. 

“These recognitions speak to the dedication and generosity of our employees, who continue to step up and make a real difference,” adds Sean Cook, Telecom System Tower Serviceman and 2025 Powerful Giving campaign co-chair. “We’re honoured to be recognized by United Way of Calgary and Area for the positive impact our team is having across Alberta.” 

AltaLink’s annual employee giving campaign is employee-led, organized by a committee of representatives from across the company and guided by sponsors from the executive team. Committee chairs complete a four-month secondment with United Way of Calgary and Area, providing them with valuable insight into community needs that helps inform campaign planning. 

With employees located across Alberta, AltaLink’s campaign includes a mix of in-person and virtual activities, ensuring employees can participate in ways that are meaningful and accessible to them. 

With all employee donations matched dollar for dollar by AltaLink, the 2025 Powerful Giving Campaign raised more than $906,000 for charities across the province, with employees also contributing over 400 volunteer hours in support of community initiatives.  
 
Over the past 23 years, AltaLink has raised more than $13 million in support of United Way, underscoring its ongoing commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of Albertans.
