To connect Pteragen Canada Inc.’s (Pteragen’s) Pteragen Peace Butte Wind Facility to the grid, AltaLink is proposing changes to its transmission system.

The project is located in Cypress County, approximately 22 kilometres south of Medicine Hat. The project includes:

• constructing approximately 230 metres of new 138 kilovolt (kV) transmission line (to be named 600AL), including two new structures (one two-pole structure and one new H-frame structure)
• modifying AltaLink’s existing 600L transmission line to connect to 600AL (this includes the addition of two new monopole structures and the removal of one structure)
• installing approximately two kilometres of underground fibre optic cable between the 964L/983L transmission line and Pteragen’s proposed Tothill 219S substation
• constructing a short temporary transmission line to maintain reliable electricity in the area while construction is completed
