To accommodate the Lamoureux Solar STL Inc (Lamoureux Solar) Lamoureux Ruby Solar Battery Connection, AltaLink had proposed changes to its transmission system. The project was located approximately six kilometres (km) northwest of the City of Fort Saskatchewan.
To connect their proposed solar battery project to the grid, Lamoureux Solar had planned to construct a new substation, named Ruby 1095S.
AltaLink had proposed changes to its system to accommodate the connection of Lamoureux’s Ruby Solar Battery project, which included:
- constructing approximately seven km of new 138 kilovolt (kV) transmission line
(to be called 325L) along one of three potential routes from Lamoureux’s Ruby
1095S substation to AltaLink’s existing Lamoureux 71S substation - installing a new circuit breaker and associated equipment within the
Lamoureux 71S substation - installing optical grounding wire (OPGW) between the Ruby 1095S substation
and Lamoureux 71S substation
